Dating on a Budget

by Wednesday, March 23, 2016

The economic downturn has taken a toll on many people in terms of lifestyle changes. One of the very first to go are what is considered to be “luxuries”, like eating out and going to the movies. This frugal lifestyle can definitely mar your personal life if you don’t think out of the box. Here are 4 creative ways you can still date on a budget while protecting your pride:

#1 Quaint out of the way restaurants

Do some research and look for mom & pop restaurants, or hole in the wall joints that offer classic specialities. Most of these places are usually on the outskirts of town so it will give you a nice little road trip adventure and generally such places don’t cost an arm and a leg.

#2 Use coupon deals

If you know your date rather well, look for coupon deals that you know they would appreciate. Instead of coming across as being cheap, you would definitely earn brownie points for being “thoughtful”. If you are really creative and take the trouble to scour all kinds of coupon deals, you can probably plan a whole weekend away complete with fun activities for half the price or more.

#3 Be romantic

So if going out is too expensive for you, why not invite him or her over to your house? With a little bit of preparation and creative bargains, you can turn your place into a themed restaurant for the night. You are only limited by your imagination and your date would be thrilled by the effort you put into creating a nice ambiance that they probably would not notice your less than brilliant cooking skills.

 #4 Back to nature

It is always great to connect with nature. Do some research on nice parks or easy hiking trails near where you live and pack a picnic. Bonding in nature is therapeutic as you are forced to disconnect from technology and the hustle and bustle of city life.
